ADDICTIONS VICTORIOUS (for men and women struggling with addictions of all kinds)

We reach out in the love of our Lord Jesus to those who struggle with various addictions. We also embrace loved ones and friends who find themselves on the other side of addiction; those who are being adversely impacted by the addict’s destructive lifestyle.

Our open meetings are held on Tuesdays from 7:30-9:00 pm in room 300 at Calvary Church. Call 215.908.0965 or 215.799.0189 for more information or pick up a brochure in the church kiosks for details.

CODEPENDENCY SUPPORT GROUP

•    Do you feel compelled to control or rescue other people?
•    Do you strive to please others, even if you harm yourself emotionally?
•    Do you feel guilt over things which you have no control?
•    Do you feel that you live a life of loneliness without true intimacy?

The codependency support group is a Christ-Centered 12-step process for those who recognize the painful problems of codependency with the compulsion to fix everyone and everything.  It offers sound Biblical strategies that give hope and promise healing from the damage of codependency in your life.  Group sessions run for fourteen weeks and meet at Calvary Church on Thursday evenings from 7:00-9:00pm in the loft. The format of the group combines a time of workbook teaching along with small group interaction and fellowship. There is a charge of $20.00 for the workbook.  If you are going through a divorce or struggling with relationships, recovering from addiction or living with someone in the throws of addiction or living with the problems of a dysfunctional family, you may benefit from this group.

The next session begins on October 7, 2010 and runs through January 27, 2011.

MEN'S PURITY (for men desiring to escape sexual addiction)

Sexual addiction is like heroin or crack cocaine addiction.

You become dependent on external stimulation to meet your inner needs.
The tragic cost of sexual addiction is seen in the many shattered marriages, accounts of sexual and physical abuse, destroyed ministries and ruined spiritual lives.
Sexual addiction is generally accompanied by remorse, guilt and shame. For many caught in this web, it feels like there's no way out. If you are caught in the web of sexual addiction - and long to be free, there is hope.
The first step to freedom from the snare of sexual addiction is to admit that you cannot win this battle alone. You need God's help. And you need the help of others who understand the battle and can show you how to gain victory.

The Men's Purity Ministry is designed to help men overcome their dependence on visual sexual stimulation-especially pornography.

We will offer a small group experience that provides insight, knowledge and strength in an environment that fosters accountability and trust. The program is based on biblically sound principles that will seek heart change-not just behavior change.

Each of our Men's Purity groups will be led by two co-facilitators who attend Calvary Church and have experienced freedom from sexual addiction through God's power and practicing the principles covered in the group. There are two phases to the Group experience:

A Phase One group continues until the study material has been completed and group members have demonstrated growth in personal purity.
Following the completion of a Phase One material, members may continue in a Phase Two group, where ongoing application of the skills learned in Phase One and accountability are practiced.

In addition to our Purity Groups, Calvary’s Counseling Center and Men’s Mentoring Ministry offers personalized support to Men seeking help to maintain sexual purity. For more infolt;/st1:personname>rmation, contact the church office at 215.723.0963.

Make the Call – to learn more about our Purity Ministry, call 215.723.5385 and at the prompt, dial 176. Then, follow the instructions. This is a secure number – only the Coordinators of the Men’s Purity ministry have access to it. You’ll be contacted to begin the application process.

NANCY'S NETWORK (women who have recently been diagnosed with cancer or have battled cancer in the past).

This is a network of communication and encouragement under Congregational Care ministries. We meet monthly in the home of one of our group members to share current information regarding treatment options, doctors, hospitals, nutrition, etc. We also send cards of encouragement to ladies who are currently undergoing chemotherapy or radiation.

Our meetings consist of:

  • Informal conversation and light refreshments
  • A brief sharing time of personal treatments or insights learned through individual Bible study
  • Discussing prayer requests
  • Looking into God’s Word and praying
  • Occasionally share information about local seminars offered by area organizations, hospitals and nutrition centers.

Our group chose the name Nancy’s Network to honor the memory of our dear sister in Christ, Nancy Gillespie, a breast cancer survivor who ministered to other ladies during their journeys through cancer treatments. Nancy modeled a trust in God, a positive attitude, and a kind heart—qualities we want to infuse into our network.

For more information about Nancy's Network, please call Cindy at 215.703.8926 ext 613.
